The Sound "The Dutch Radio Recordings" disc 4

Sorry I didn’t check in with an update last night. I’ve been preparing to move for the past week (and will continue to do so this coming week) so things have been scattered, my mind included.

That being said, I thought it would be a good time to chime in on my thoughts regarding Renascent Records latest releases, the Sound’s Dutch Radio Recordings series. Showcasing five different gigs over the course of 4 + years, this five disc set demonstrates what a great live band the Sound were and how Adrian Borland is one of the greatest unsung frontmen ever.

I was plesantly surprised at how good the sound recording is on these discs, especially those ’81, ’82 gigs. Here are some tracks from the group’s July 1, 1984 performance at the Parkpop Festival in Den Haag, South Holland.

The Sound (live) – “Unwritten Law” (MP3)

The Sound (live) – “Total Recall” (MP3)

The Sound (live) – “Monument” (MP3)

Again, a great performance all around. Adrian had a fury going on that pushed the band to just sizzle. Definitely a group I wish I could’ve seen. I’ll chime in tomorrow with some cuts taken from the band’s April 9, 1985 gig at the Utrecht in Vrije Vloer.
